​Hi, I'm Christine Evans, Founder and President of Companion Animal Care of Brevard County, Florida.

​

My journey to this point has taken many turns, but ultimately it led me to my true passion: caring for animals while making a meaningful difference in the lives of senior citizens and disabled veterans.

​​

My love for animals began at an early age. I received my first puppy, Flicka, as a birthday gift when I was five, followed soon after by a white bunny named Marshmallow at Easter. Since then, animals have always been an important part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the joy of caring for dogs, cats, bunnies, birds, horses, and even chickens!

I graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Administration of Justice and later earned a Master’s degree in Crisis and Emergency Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

​

For eight years, I had the privilege of working with military veterans at Penn State University. Coming from a military family myself, that experience gave me an even deeper appreciation for the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment of those who have served our communities and our nation.

Over time, I felt increasingly drawn toward a new purpose—one that would combine my lifelong love of animals with my compassion for senior citizens and disabled veterans.

In April 2023, I returned “home” to Melbourne, Florida, with the goal of creating a nonprofit organization that would support these individuals and the animal companions they love. From that vision, Companion Animal Care of Brevard County, Florida became a reality.

​

Our mission is to provide comfort, relief, and reassurance to senior citizens and disabled veterans who find themselves facing a serious medical or personal crisis and are temporarily or permanently unable to care for their beloved pets. We strive to help keep people and their animal companions together whenever possible and to provide compassionate assistance when circumstances make that impossible.

​

This mission is deeply personal to me, and I am grateful for every person who has helped us make a difference.

​
